The story goes that Harun Al-Rashid built a palace. As he stood before it, waiting to hear the poets’ praises, a poor dervish passed by and called out, “O Harun!” The soldiers moved to seize him, how could he address the Caliph by his name, without the title ‘Commander of the Faithful’? But Al-Rashid said, “Let him alone.” Then he asked the man, “What do you want?” The man replied, “You are angry that I call you by your name? Yet I call upon One far better than you by His name any time and He does not get angry. I say, “O God, O Most Merciful, O Compeller.” The Abbasid Caliph said to him, “Come closer.” The man stepped forward and Harun said to him, “Admonish me.” The dervish said, “Had the Caliphate been destined to last for anyone else, it would not have reached you.”
The Caliph said, “Tell me more.” He said, “Look, here are their palaces and there lie their graves. When the world settles, it muddies the waters, when it clothes, it strips bare, when it dazzles, it strikes with dread, when it blooms, it heralds decay, and when it turns away, it gallops off in haste. “How many graves are built and then abandoned? How many sick people do we visit, only to see them pass away? How many kings saw their banners raised high, only to die at the peak of their power? “The righteous will die, the sinful transgressors will die, the arrogant will die and the humble will die... Everyone in existence will die and perish, while the Face of your Lord—Possessor of Majesty and Honor— will remain. “To whom does the dominion belong? To God, the One, the Irresistible. ‘Indeed we belong to God and to Him we shall return.’ We ask the Almighty for the life of the blessed and the death of martyrs.” Harun said, “Amen.”
“You are a foolish prime minister.”
With these words, during World War II, a British man boldly shouted at Prime Minister Winston Churchill’s motorcade, right in the middle of the street, where everyone could see. Such a confrontation with the head of government was highly unusual, so the man was arrested immediately. However, the real twist came the next day when an opposition member of Parliament asked Churchill, “Is it acceptable to arrest a citizen just for insulting the Prime Minister?” Silence fell over the chamber as everyone anticipated a political explanation, or perhaps, a passionate defense of the dignity of the office. When Churchill stood to respond, he skillfully turned the entire situation around with just one sentence. He raised his head and declared, “He was not arrested for insulting the Prime Minister, but for disclosing a state secret.” The chamber erupted in laughter and applause. Rather than defending himself against the insult, he transformed it into a humorous remark that made everyone forget the insult itself. This incident illustrates that it is not about sheer force but rather about quick wit, making your few words more impactful than the entire situation.

Becoming the prime minister’s in-law
A man told his son he wanted to arrange a marriage for him, but the son refused. The father explained that his son thought of him as an old man with an outdated mindset, unwilling to accept his choice of a bride. Then the father revealed, “The girl is the daughter of the prime minister.” Instantly, the young man consented to the marriage. The father went on, “I approached the prime minister to request his daughter’s hand for my son, but he declined. So I informed him, ‘My son is the head of the Central Bank for West Asia.’” The prime minister immediately agreed “Next, I spoke to the bank owner about securing a high position for my son. The manager refused, so I said, ‘My son is the prime minister’s son-in-law.’ The manager quickly accepted.” The father concluded, “I arranged a prestigious position for my son, united him with the prime minister’s daughter, and became related to the prime minister myself.”

Stalin’s watch and fear
The telephone rang, and upon answering, the man was met with an irate voice demanding he locate a watch that mysteriously disappeared from the presidential headquarters. The owner of the watch was not an ordinary individual, he was Joseph Stalin. As a result, the first few minutes of the search led to a complete mobilization -- the police sprang into action, not only looking for the watch, but also arresting five individuals on the spot. As the investigation deepened and the pressure increased, each detainee fought desperately to protect himself at any cost. Then, an unexpected turn of events happened -- Stalin found the watch himself. He picked up the telephone and commanded an immediate cessation of the investigation, only to receive a chilling response: “It cannot be halted now. We have detained five people and three of them have already admitted to stealing the watch!” The strange truth was that there was no theft, as the watch remained in its rightful place all along, yet fear turned the situation into confessions. Sometimes, truth does not hold the greatest power, instead, fear shapes the narrative.
