Nepalese Ambassador Ghana Shyam Lamsal meets with members of his community.

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 18: Nepalese Ambassador to Kuwait, Ghana Shyam Lamsal, has reported that during his 10-month tenure, 759 domestic workers were repatriated, around 87,000 work visa applications were approved, and more than 13,000 passports were either renewed or issued. Additionally, 185,000 Kuwaiti dinars were sent to Nepal as compensation.

In a phone interview with Al-Rai, Ambassador Lamsal noted that these statistics reflect the work accomplished since he took office. He mentioned that he had met with community representatives to discuss the embassy’s achievements during this period.

Lamsal also highlighted that 63 Nepalese individuals who died in Kuwait and Iraq had their remains repatriated over the past 10 months. The embassy assisted in sending 16 sick workers back to Nepal and is currently providing treatment for four others.

He outlined several areas needing improvement, including updating the embassy’s facilities, addressing issues related to the employment and treatment of domestic workers, and increasing public awareness about traffic safety and social media systems.

Ambassador Lamsal assured that these recommendations would be considered to enhance the embassy's services and operations.
