KUWAIT CITY, July 27: The Criminal Investigation Department has closed the file of nearly 100 cases of theft of equipment and electricity cables from projects and transformers of the Ministry of Electricity, which occurred during the past months by arresting a fivemember gang of Asians, reports Al-Anba daily. A security source told the daily that after the increase in cases of theft of equipment and electric cables from the projects of the Ministry of Electricity in several separate regions of the country during the past months, a special team was formed to follow up on these cases.

During investigation that lasted for several days, CID men revealed that the perpetrators of the thefts was a gang of 5 Asians who steal electrical equipment, wires and cables from projects and using a mini bus to sell the loot in the Amghara scrapyard. The daily added, the suspects were ambushed and caught red-handed during a theft operation, and during interrogation they confessed to having carried out nearly 100 thefts and selling the stolen items to the Amghara scrapyard. After completing the investigation they were referred to the Public Prosecution.
