43 Female Lawyers with Revoked Nationality Allowed to Continue Practicing

KUWAIT CITY, Mar 10: The Lawyers Association announced that, as part of the ongoing collaboration between the Ministry of Justice, represented by Minister Counselor Nasser Al-Sumait, and the Association, and to ensure the seamless functioning of legal and professional practices in compliance with legal frameworks, the Association’s Admissions Committee has issued a decision allowing female lawyers whose nationalities were revoked to continue practicing law. This is conditional upon proof that they are treated under Article 8 as Kuwaitis in the nationality category.

The President of the Association, Adnan Abel, stated that this decision followed a thorough examination of the legal aspects, joint coordination with relevant authorities, and consideration of issued decrees and Cabinet Resolution No. 67/2025. This resolution mandates the amendment of the status of women whose nationalities were withdrawn, ensuring their equality in rights and benefits.

The Association’s Secretary, Khaled Al-Suwaifan, clarified that the decision applies to 43 female lawyers. He emphasized that the Association is committed to maintaining the stability of professional practice, particularly as many of the affected lawyers manage law firms and have significant responsibilities toward their clients. This necessitates measures to safeguard the continuity of judicial processes without disruption.
