COLOMBO, Sept 25, (Xinhua): Four people were killed and three others injured in a head-on collision early Thursday morning between a truck and a van in Thalawa, North Central Province, Sri Lanka, police said.
The injured were admitted to two regional hospitals, and further investigations are underway. Road accidents involving heavy vehicles are common in Sri Lanka. Police noted that many of these vehicles are poorly maintained, adding that the government has recently launched a program to inspect passenger transport vehicles.
