KATHMANDU, June 14, (Xinhua): A passenger sport utility vehicle skidded off the highway in central Nepal on Friday evening, leaving four dead and 12 others injured, police said on Saturday.
Two people died on the spot, one succumbed to wounds enroute to a hospital and another passed away during treatment after the vehicle carrying 16 people fell 60 meters off a cliff in Baglung district, local police said.
"The injured are receiving treatment at two hospitals," Anand Basnet, a district police officer, told Xinhua.
A preliminary study suggested overload could be the cause of the accident, Basnet said. Traffic accidents claim hundreds of lives each year in mountainous Nepal.
