KUWAIT CITY, Aug 1: The Supreme Committee for the Investigation of Kuwaiti Nationality has issued three decisions to strip 28 individuals of their citizenship.

The first decision mandated the loss of citizenship for two individuals based on Article 9 of Amiri Decree No. 15 of 1959. The second decision affected four others, based on Article 10 of the same decree. The third decision resulted in 22 individuals losing their citizenship under Article 11, which states that a Kuwaiti citizen loses their nationality if they voluntarily acquire a foreign nationality.

The decisions, issued on July 25 and published in a supplement to the newspaper "Kuwait Alyom," revealed that 19 of the 22 individuals affected by the third decision held citizenship by the establishment, and eight had not been granted citizenship.

Article 9 of the decree specifies that if a foreign wife acquires Kuwaiti nationality, she does not lose it upon the termination of the marriage unless she regains her original nationality or acquires another nationality.

Article 10 states that a Kuwaiti woman who marries a foreigner does not lose her Kuwaiti nationality unless she acquires her husband’s nationality at her request.
