RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, May 11: The Saudi Ministry of Interior has announced strict penalties for visit visa holders who attempt to enter or remain in Mecca and other holy sites during the Hajj season without proper authorization. Offenders will face fines of up to 20,000 riyals, the ministry confirmed, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The restriction applies from the first day of Dhu al-Qi'dah until the end of the 14th day of Dhu al-Hijjah in the Islamic calendar. Authorities emphasized that individuals found violating these regulations — whether by entering or staying in restricted areas — will be subject to legal action.
In addition to financial penalties, the Ministry warned that residents and individuals attempting unauthorized Hajj entry will be deported and barred from re-entering the Kingdom for a period of 10 years.
The Ministry urged all individuals to comply with Hajj regulations, which are designed to ensure the safety and security of pilgrims and to facilitate the performance of religious rituals in a peaceful and organized manner. Citizens and residents are also encouraged to report any violations of these rules.
In support of Hajj security measures, the "Tawakkalna" application has launched a new service allowing users to view their Hajj permits for the year 1446 AH. This feature is integrated with the newly launched "Tasreeh Platform" — a unified digital system developed by the Ministry of Interior in collaboration with the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA).
