18,000 Bedouns status amended in last 10 years

Agency currently following up 9,090 cases

KUWAIT CITY, May 17: The Central System for Remedying the Status of Illegal Residents (CSRSIR) recently announced that it amended the statuses of 18,217 Bedoun residents during the period from the year 2011 until the end of December 2021, reports Al-Rai daily. Director of the Status Adjustment Department in CSRSIR Brigadier General Muhammad Al-Wuhaib explained that a total of 9,127 people have completed the procedures for adjusting their status in all state agencies. CSRSIR is currently following up 9,090 cases whose original nationalities were determined by the agency’s departments.

The determination is based on confirmed documents and valid evidence including a passport, birth certificate, identity card, passport register, community statement, conscription book, statistics of the country of origin, and old government documents (citing the nationality and departure notice). CSRSIR has notified those concerned about this matter, and procedures for adjusting their status are being followed up. The statuses of 8,068 individuals have been modified to Iraqi nationality, of whom 1,112 have completed the modification procedures, and the statuses of 6,956 others are being modified.

Modified
The statuses of 6,583 persons have been modified to Saudi nationality, of whom 5,887 have completed the modification procedures, and the statuses of 696 others are being followed up. The statuses of 1,133 people have been modified to Syrian citizenship, of whom 854 have completed the procedures, and the statuses of 279 others are being modified. The statuses of 309 persons have been modified to Iranian nationality, of whom 106 have completed the procedures, and the statuses of 203 others are being modified.

The statuses of 115 individuals have been modified to Jordanian nationality, of whom 50 have completed the procedures, and the statuses of 65 others are in the process of being modified. Also, the statuses of 2,009 persons were modified to other nationalities, of whom 1,118 have completed the necessary procedures, while the statuses of 891 others are still under process. Brigadier General Al-Wuhaib called on anyone who wishes to amend their status to visit the CSRSIR headquarters in Ardiya area to regularize their residency and reconcile their status according to the residency laws in force in Kuwait.
