KUWAIT CITY, March 19: A 16-year old expatriate juvenile was arrested for distributing drugs on behalf of a Kuwaiti inmate in the Central Prison, reports Al-Anba daily. Based on instructions from Assistant Undersecretary for Criminal Security of Ministry of Interior Major General Abdulhameed Al-Awadi, the juvenile was arrested and referred for interrogations. He explained that he received a phone call from the inmate who lured him to work on his behalf by distributing sachets of heroin for which he would earn KD 5 as commission for selling each sachet. He then told him about 50 sachets of heroin hidden in a certain place and requested him to keep them until he gives the next order. The suspect revealed that he used to receive orders from the inmate to place a sachet under abandoned car and his role would end at that stage. Informed security sources said the Juvenile Prosecutor intends to summon the Kuwaiti inmate for interrogation.
Meanwhile Police officers assigned at Kuwait International Airport foiled an Asian man’s attempt to smuggle three kilograms of marijuana hidden among packs of crackers. The officers suspected the Asian when he arrived in the country, so they searched his luggage thoroughly and this led to the discovery of the contraband. The Asian and the confiscated marijuana were referred to the concerned authorities for legal action.
Seized drugs believed to be of high quality
The sources added, the Kuwaitis identified only as A and H picked up a fight with the immigration officers to divert the attention of the customs men. The sources said the baggage of the Kuwaitis was checked manually and when the officer doubted the men were hiding something they were asked to put the baggage on the X-ray machine. The drugs seized from the men are believed to be high quality.
