15 MoH nurses complete specialized kidney dialysis course

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 26: The Nursing Services Department has successfully concluded a specialized training course in kidney dialysis, as part of its ongoing efforts to qualify and develop nursing cadres. The two-week course was conducted in collaboration with the Oman College of Health Sciences, following a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the two parties.

Held at the Training and Development Unit at Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital, the course saw the participation of 15 male and female nurses from various hospitals and specialized centers.

Dr. Iman Al-Awadhi, Director of the Nursing Services Department, stated in a press release that the training was designed to address the scientific and practical needs of nursing staff. The program aimed to enhance the professional skills required for working in kidney dialysis units.

The curriculum provided comprehensive coverage of multiple aspects of dialysis, including performing different types of dialysis, installing arterial connections, and handling emergency cases. Participants also learned how to monitor and evaluate the dialysis process according to the latest quality and safety standards. A significant focus was placed on infection prevention methods relevant to this vital field.

Dr. Al-Awadhi highlighted that the MoU with the Oman College of Health Sciences facilitates the organization of various specialized courses aimed at enhancing the skills of nursing staff across different health institutions. She noted that this training program marks the fourth initiative under this productive partnership.

The Director emphasized the Nursing Services Department's commitment to regularly organizing training courses to enhance nurses' capabilities, ultimately improving the health services provided by the Ministry of Health and the quality of care offered to the community.
