147 violations recorded in charitable societies

KUWAIT, May 9: The Kuwaiti Ministry of Social Affairs recorded 147 various violations related to fundraising operations during the period between April 26 and May 6.

The Assistant Undersecretary for Social Development Sector in (Affairs) Hana Al-Hajri said in a press statement today, Saturday, that inspection teams affiliated with the Department of Charitable Societies and Charities observed 147 violations, of which 126 were violations of garment kiosks. 99% of them were removed.

Al-Hajri added that 20 advertisements have been monitored for restaurants that collect donations via social media to provide fasting breakfasts, in addition to monitoring a commercial company that collects donations via phone calls, noting that the relevant legal measures have been taken and notifying the Ministry of Trade and Industry in this regard.

She explained that within the framework of (affairs) supervision of charitable projects, advertisements were made that did not include the license number issued to them indicating that placing the license number and the phrase (prohibiting cash collection) on the declaration constitutes a guarantee for the donor that the project is licensed in accordance with the regulations and regulations issued by the Cabinet and (Affairs) ).

She pointed out that the inspection teams that include in its membership the Ministries of Affairs and Interior and the Municipality of Kuwait are working continuously to ensure the extent of compliance with the controls, regulations and regulations governing charitable work in the country.
