RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, Sept 2: The Saudi Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority, known as Nazaha, has arrested 139 government officials in August on charges of corruption, including bribery, abuse of power, and money laundering.

The arrests follow a series of inspections conducted by Nazaha, totaling 2,950 rounds across various government offices. These inspections led to the initiation of criminal cases against 380 suspects from several government entities, including the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Municipality and Housing, and the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority.

Nazaha announced its commitment to continuing its oversight of both government agencies and private establishments. The authority aims to monitor and apprehend individuals who misuse public funds or abuse their positions for personal gain. This oversight will persist even after individuals leave their official positions.

In addition to its enforcement actions, Nazaha is focused on recovering funds and assets obtained through corruption. The authority also reviews work methods and procedures within its jurisdiction to identify and address weaknesses that could lead to corruption, thereby fulfilling its objectives.
