KUWAIT CITY, Aug 21: Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior said Thursday that 115 residency violators and three wanted persons were arrested during traffic campaigns carried out by the General Traffic Department on major highways, including the Seventh Ring Road, over the past week.
The campaigns, which ran from August 13 until Wednesday, also resulted in the issuance of 3,239 traffic citations, the ministry said in a statement. Authorities impounded two vehicles for traffic law violations, referred three cases to the traffic police, and seized 56 vehicles in total.
In addition to the arrests of three wanted individuals, 115 people were detained for violating residency and labor laws, it added. Police also apprehended 12 juveniles for driving without a license, while 36 individuals were referred to the police station for failing to provide proof of their violations.
The General Traffic Department stressed that security campaigns will continue across all roads to enhance discipline, reduce traffic violations, safeguard lives and property, and ensure smooth traffic flow.
