KUWAIT CITY, Aug 22: Yoga is one of the best workouts for improving physical and mental health; because it focuses on breathing, relaxation and stretching exercises, which make the body more flexible, reports Al-Qabas daily. This workout is now popular in Gulf countries, where there is a broad base of yoga practitioners.

In Kuwait, workouts and sports have gained popularity over the last years among different age groups. In a statement to the daily, yoga and fitness instructor Eman Al-Husseinan pointed out that yoga has become an integral part of healthy lifestyle programs and an effective way to reduce stress; affirming there is a high demand among different age groups of both genders. “Women are more interested in this workout than men, considering the availability of yoga classes in all health clubs.

Many athletes, who make an effort to lift weights and run, are keen on benefiting from yoga sessions, as well as the elderly whose ages range from 50-60 years old,” Al-Husseinan added. Kuwait Red Crescent Society on Sunday delivered urgent aid to Sudan as flash floods triggered by torrential rains continued to sweep through villages and homes across the African nation. Kuwait is committed to international efforts aiming to “alleviate the misery” of the Sudanese people, KRCS Secretary- General Dr. Maha Al-Barjas told KUNA, saying the venerable Kuwaiti charity has already sent a team to Sudan to aid those whose lives were upended by the deluge.

On those affected by the heavy downpour, she said they were in dire need of urgent aid that runs the gamut from food and healthcare to sanitation, expressing her grief over the widespread destruction the floods have caused. Torrential rain had lashed much of Sudan since the start of August, killing scores of people and overwhelming thousands of villages, while homes were swept away and residents left stranded.
