KUWAIT CITY, Oct 24: Kuwait’s top lawmaker said on Sunday that a “work plan” was formed to finalize an amnesty process proposed by His Highness the Amir, paving the way for a decree to “soon pardon” some citizens convicted of various charges. An ad hoc committee tasked with the matter will submit its inaugural report to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah two weeks after Kuwait’s parliament reconvenes, Marzouq Al-Ghanim told reporters, saying he was “optimistic” over the results. His Highness the Amir last week instructed the country’s executive, legislative and judicial powers to work out the conditions under which amnesty would be granted to some Kuwaiti convicts residing abroad, (KUNA)
