Woman, two daughters perish in mishap

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 3: Police have arrested an Egyptian man for causing the death of a Syrian woman and her two daughters in a two-vehicle collision in Hawally, reports Al-Rai daily. Intensive investigations revealed that the Egyptian crashed into the car of the victim and sped off.

39,374 citations issued: General Traffic Department launched a number of traffic campaigns in all governorates of the State of Kuwait during the period between July 24 and July 30. During these campaigns, 39,374 traffic citations were issued, 1,545 vehicles and six motorbikes were seized, 49 individuals were arrested for committing traffic violations and six expatriates were referred for deportation for driving without drivers’ license. In a press statement issued by Ministry of Interior, the department affirmed that such traffic campaigns will be carried out in all governorates of the country against the violators of Kuwaiti traffic law.

Garages targeted: Ahmadi police recently carried out a security crackdown under the supervision of acting Fahaheel Security Directorate Commander Lieutenant Colonel Khalid Al- Anzi, reports Al-Anba daily. The crackdown targeted garages that violate the law by repairing damaged cars without taking permission from relevant security authorities, because such cars might have been used in crimes or crashed into police vehicles but the driver escaped after the accident. Authorities summoned the owners of these garages to gather information about owners of the cars under repair. Police also arrested some expatriates for violating the Labor and Residency laws.
