Waiting for right time to grill health minister: MP – ‘Awqaf best option for Al-Omair’

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 20: MP Hamdan Al-Azmi affirmed that his intention to grill the Minister of Health Dr Ali Al- Obaidi is still valid, and he’s only waiting for an opportune time to present it. He refuted rumors that he had cancelled or suspended the proposal. Meanwhile, Head of the Parliamentary Health Committee MP Saadoun Hamad accused Al- Azmi of operating outside the agenda of the committee by tackling issues that are not listed on the program, indicating the issue of health insurance he raised wasn’t part of the agenda, especially as the committee and the Parliament approved it earlier.
Undersecretary of Health Ministry Dr Khalid Al-Sahlawi revealed that the ministry continues to dispatch patients to France for overseas treatment despite the recent terror attack. He noted the ministry has yet to receive instructions in that aspect. And, MP Dr AbdulRahman Al- Jiraan thinks the Ministry of Awqaf is the best and most suitable portfolio for Minister Dr Ali Al-Omair, if not, his return to the Parliament is better for him rather than any ministerial post, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
In a press statement, Al-Jiraan asserted he has no authority to speak on behalf of the Salafists, but as per his understanding, the Ministry of Awqaf is the best option for Al- Omair, especially after the reforms he was advocating failed to launch in the Ministry of Oil due to those keen on hampering reform efforts in this sector. He added everyone witnessed the integrity of Al-Omair who did not accommodate favoritism nor tried to please anyone. He pointed out Al- Omair is the only minister who is not tainted with such violations, let alone the fact that the Supreme Petroleum Council and executive directors did not honor him with confidence, respect and integrity, making it difficult for reforms to take root in the oil sector.
