KUWAIT CITY, Dec 25, (KUNA): The United States and Europe applauded Kuwait’s role in collecting and transferring charity money, said Kuwait’s top diplomat Tuesday.

The remarks were made by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah during the National Assembly’s ordinary session.

It came in response to a question by MP Saleh Ashour to former Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Al-Sabeeh regarding closure of some unlicensed charity societies.

He added that Kuwait has been exerting tremendous efforts in collecting and transferring charity money for the past seven years. The government had electronically connected charity societies with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Social Affairs and the Ministry of Interior to easily execute their duties, he noted.

The Foreign Minister further pointed out the Cabinet’s decisions to close unlicensed charities, hailing Al-Sabeeh’s efforts in organizing charity work in all governmental bodies concerned.
