Unknown gang assaults Asian, steals cell phone, wallet

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 26: Unknown persons assaulted an Asian expatriate and stole his mobile phone plus wallet while he was walking in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area. The victim filed a complaint with officers at the area police station and said the suspects in sports outfit intercepted him and forced him to handover his mobile phone, and when he refused, they physically assaulted him, stole the wallet and fled the scene. A case was registered.

Meanwhile, an Egyptian expatriate attacked and took KD10 from an Asian expatriate near a popular restaurant after a quarrel between them. On his arrest, the Egyptian told investigators that the Asian who worked for him had collected KD 10 and refused to payback, so he took the money by force as he encountered him at the location.

Four arrested: Four people evading a total of 18 years jail term for various criminal offenses were arrested at different security checkpoints in Jahra area. They were referred to concerned authorities for necessary action. Meanwhile, Ahmadi securitymen apprehended an Indian expatriate sentenced in absentia to serve one year in prison along with a Nepali national wanted by law. They were all referred to relevant authorities.

School fire tackled: A minor fire erupted in an exhaust fan at the computer room of Imam Al-Malik Secondary School in Mubarak Al- Kabeer area. Acting on information, a team of firemen was dispatched to the location by the Operations Room of Kuwait Fire Service Department (KFSD) and they managed to deal with the situation in a record time, without casualties, as teachers helped to evacuate students in an orderly manner.

Landmine found: A live landmine was discovered near Artal Road near Kilo mark 14 in Salmi area. In a press statement issued by Ministry of Interior, the Public Relation and Media Security Department explained that the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior received information about a strange object near Artal Road after which securitymen rushed to the location and discovered it is a landmine. They summoned the bomb squad who dealt with landmine appropriately. They discovered that the landmine was among the remnants of the Iraqi invasion in Kuwait.
