UNIMONI shock Lolos’ Strikers as Green Apple & COZMO win

Pin Pals bounced back, outlast SKARZ to end 3-game losing streak

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 2: Now on its midway of the elimination round in the on-going Philippine Bowling Association in Kuwait Tenpin Bowling Tournament dubbed 2018 Elite Challenge Cup held at COZMO Recreation and Bowling Center in Keifan, Cozmo Lane Specialists upkeep their leadership for sixth weeks. UNIMONI Exchange floated high and snatched the second place while the strikers of Green Apples although winning the game dropped to fourth place behind TGIF due to poor production. Teams that posted victory were Green Apples, Cozmo, Unimoni Exchange and Pin Pals while TGIF played bye.
UNIMONI Exchange continued their rise-up in the league’s standing with a third straight win, 3,027-2,682 over the Lolos’ Strikers and filched the second spot from fourth. It was the Uninoni Exchange biggest victory of the season and gave them three wins Weekly High Series of their current six-game finish. Sonia Mathews shines as she led her team with 598 points, Rashid Ali scored 585 points assisted by Neveen Wasel (483), Ferras Al Muhareb (482) and Mohammad Karam (470). The ‘oldies’ Lolos suffered second straight loss but gripped tightly the fifth position with Cris Carungay who topscored with his 514 points followed by Rocky Castil (451), Bima Nitikusumo (417), Leila Cervantes (400), Abel Nitikusumo (261) and Reygan Percy (110).

Green Apples’ Strikers toppled monstrous Al Qassem squad 2,779-2,684 in Lanes 3/4 for their second successive wins slide from second to fourth place due to low yield. In game one of the three-game series the crunchy fruits blessed with ‘handicap’ outscored PBAK’s best 889-879 but the Al Qasssem All Stars retaliated in the second game with the score of 893-865. In the third game, the underrated Mohammad Othman and ‘lucky charm’ of the team Jocelyn Barros scored above average, 191 and 162 respectively to spoil the predators desire and outsmarted them instead 950-887.

Green Apples’ top scorer was Jesus Tolentino (477) supported by Mohammad Othman (343), Neng Cervantes (302), Adofo Prena (285), Jhon Narvasa (283), Jocelyn Barros (280) and Alex Cervantes (249) who played two games each. The on-off Al Qwassem team high pointer was Ibrahim Al Jadi (567), assisted by Fadel Al Qassem (536), Saleh Faraj (454), Mariam Fahad Al Zaid (394) and Seham Taqi Behbehani (360). Swooping Eagles suffered 2,670-2,791 setback to rival league leader COZMO Lane Specialists after winning the first two games 908-853, 943-917 of their 3-game series.

Cozmo won the third game, 996-819 with the heroics of Lito Michael and Bader Malalah who released their fire powers and scored 220 and 192 points, respectively. Cozmo top scorer was Lito with his 562 points, assisted by Ruben Cervantes (499), Ibrahim Al Dubayan (471) with Noe Mahayag and Bader Malalah with 468 points apiece. Eagles’ bowlers were Jessica Balagat (486), Darrell Sullivan (445), Alonzo Bush (423), Mona Corpuz (372) and Angie Bush (360).

Swooping Eagles widen their losing streak into three consecutive weeks and remain clinging in seventh place. Pin Pals piled another misery on the SKARZ with a 2,664-2,568 victory, snapping a three-game losing streak.

In game 1, SKARZ won the game 900-800 but the friendly Pin Pals bounced back on the second game 937-823 and finally the third game 902-845 For the winning team, Avinash Mathews scored 444 points, Diego Camilo contributed 416 points followed by Allan Fernandes (407), Raj Reddy (399), Agnello Fernandes (288) and Neeta Fernandes (103). SKARZ high pointer was Stephen Sequiera (410) supported by Lionel Mendes (372), Amaldo Fernandes (307), Melwin Isaac (304), Roshan D’ Souza (262), Ignatius Fernandes (123) and Kathy Fernandes (116) and Eden Danan. (108).

Both teams were in the cellar with 1-1-4 and 1-5 records. TGIF Strikers played bye with big output and the bowlers were Pilar Patula who topscored with 543 points followed by Rene Marzan (515), Joel Tizon (491), Moises Amahan (441), Sam Behbehani (244) and Mar Evangelista (169).

Meanwhile, in the individual best, in Individual High Game, in Mens’ Class A – Cozmo’s Ronell Valencia (235); Class B – Cozmo’s Lito Michael (232); Class C, Avinash Mathew of Pin Pals (222) and in Ladies Class A- Sonia Mathews regain from Jessica Balagat 212-193 and in LB – Mona Corpuz (186).

In the Individual High Average, in Mens’ Class A maintained by Fadel Al Qassem (187.3); Mens’ Class B, Yousef Al Qassem (180.9); Class CMohammad Othman (171.6); and in Ladies A- Sonia Mathews (186.3) and Ladies BImelda Calingasan (157.5).
