In matches played on Jan 5, 2018, Pen Friends United beat the Goa Football Club 3-1 in a ‘dead rubber’. Incidentally it was Agostinho who opened the scoring for the GFC in the 18th minute of the first half and two minutes later Noufal was spot on for the opponents.

To add insult to injury Zidik scored two more goals for the Pen Friends Club for a much deserved victory and won the man of the match award. The award was given away by Anwar, the manager. The match was officiated by Robert, Rafiand Sameer. The United Goan Centre and Soccer Kerala fought the supremacy in the second match as both teams had to win to qualify for the knockout stage.

The UGC playing their last game in the group had to win with a big margin and they did exactly that. In the 6th minute of the first half Irshaad of UGC took advantage of a defensive lapse and put the name of UGC on the score sheet. Determined to qualify the UGC mounted pressure on the opponents defence and it was Irshaad who again found his name on the score sheet in the 11th minute to consolidate the lead. Knowing how important the match was Soccer Kerala began the second half full of vigor and determination.

They even made some changes but found the UGC defence a hard nut to crack. As frustration ruled supreme Soccer Kerala were reduced to 10 men as the game progressed after defender Domnic was sent off for second bookable offence. Taking advantage of the situation UGC scored 2 more goals through Jitesh and Dinil in two minutes to qualify for the knockout stage. Dinil Augustine of UGC was adjudged the man of the match. The award was presented by Vice- President of UGC Agnelo.
