DUBAI, April 7, (KUNA): The UAE unveiled on Tuesday its first nuclear energy plant as it targets cleaner energy sources through a significant reduction of its carbon footprint. Unit one of Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant will provide 1,400 MW of electricity around-the-clock, with another three units in the pipeline, according to the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation.

Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince and UAE Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan commended the achievement, describing it as a “significant milestone in the country’s long-term roadmap for sustainable, knowledge-based economic prosperity, benefiting many generations to come,” according to the state news agency, WAM.
