KUWAIT CITY, March 7: Customs officers at the Shuwaikh Port in coordination with the General Department for Drugs Control have foiled an attempt by two Syrians to smuggle large quantities of narcotics into the country, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to security sources, the Customs Department had prior information that a container shipped from Syria was carrying a cargo of iron and hidden in the cargo was a large quantity of narcotics.
The same sources said, the container arrived at the port last Friday and the men were allowed to complete the procedures. As soon as the container left the port, plainclothes police followed the cargo until it reached Jleeb Al- Shuyoukh and was handed over to the two Syrians.
Police detectives then took the men in custody and searched the container and seized the narcotics. The Syrians have been handed over to the General Department for Drugs Control
