Traffic Department launches crackdown on trucks

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 16: The General Traffic Department has issued about 280,000 traffic citations to heavy duty trucks during the first six months of 2021, reports Al-Rai daily. The Public Relations and Security Media Department of the Ministry of Interior said the traffic department plays an effective role in monitoring the movement of traffic and organizes campaigns on main and internal roads around the clock.

The department added, “the number of traffic citations issued to trucks during the six months, from January 1 to June 30 was 4,239, while citations issued for parking in ‘No parking’ zones was 275,108 violations”, with a total of about 280,000. The GTD sources stressed the traffic department works in coordination and cooperating with the Kuwait Municipality to provide suitable parking spaces for trucks and they are followed up and necessary legal measures are taken if they the parking rules are violated (if they are not parked in designated areas).
