‘Tougher’ traffic penalties sought

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 15, (KUNA): Ministry of Interior announced on Monday that it plans to stiffen penalties on some traffic violations for the safety of people and to curb road accidents.

There are some studies made by some bodies in this regard in order to make traffic laws and their penalties compatible with reality, Ministry’s general department of relations and security media said in a press statement.

The department stressed continued contact with different media outlets, noting that approving or amending traffic legislations or laws will be clarified through a media campaign. It thanked all people for their communication, affirming that the safety of motorists is the main goal of the Ministry of Interior through raising awareness on this topic and implementing penalties on violators, the statement added.
