Municipality received 361 complaints via hotline No 139 in Jan

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 19: The total workforce in Kuwait has increased by 66,000 employees of both genders by the end of 2018 including 8,562 citizens and 11,394 new domestic workers as well as 47,000 expatriate workers in the private sector, reports Al-Qabas daily.

According to official statistics, the number of expatriate workers in the private sector increased during the period from June to December 2018, and the number of expatriates working in the public sector reduced by 987 employees during the same period. The total number of expatriates working in both public and private sectors as well as domestic sector reached 2.38 million, 68 percent out of who work in the private sector, while 648,000 of them work in the domestic sector and 123,000 expatriates work in the public sector.

The number of Kuwaiti employees in the public sector increased by 7,867, and the number of Kuwaiti employees in the private sector increased by 695. The total number of Kuwaiti employees working in the private sector has reached 63,104 and those in the public sector are more than 335,000. Kuwaiti employees in both sectors constitute 17 percent of the total workforce in Kuwait.

Meanwhile, Kuwait Municipality received 361 complaints from public via its hotline No. 139 in the month of January and referred these complaints to different municipality branches in all governorates. Most of these complaints were concerning public hygiene, abandoned vehicles, boats and chalets among others, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

In a press release, Public Relations Department of Kuwait Municipality affirmed that largest number of complaints were filed from Ahmadi Governorate with a total of 94 complaints, followed by Hawally Governorate with 89 complaints, Farwaniya Governorate with 62 complaints, Jahra and Capital governorates with 45 complaints each and Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate with 26 complaints.

All these complaints were filed through the hotline No. 139 affiliated to the emergency division of the Service Department. This hotline number is intended to be a source of communication between Kuwait Municipality and the public.
