KUWAIT CITY, Dec 29: Emergency Municipality Team affiliated to Capital Municipal Branch raided foodstuff storages in Rai area in cooperation with the Public Relations Department of the Municipality.The raid resulted in confiscation and destruction of 4 tons of expired and spoilt foodstuff, and closure of the stores. Director of Capital Municipality Branch Engineer Ammar Al-Ammar explained that control and monitoring agencies at the municipality conducted inspection on several cooperative societies, restaurants, shops and meat markets. He added the aim of the inspection was to ensure that foodstuff sold to the public is safe for human consumption and adheres to safety conditions and regulations of the municipality.Inspection also covered campaigns against hawking, especially hawkers selling expired or spoilt foodstuffs to the public, while foodstuff handlers need to have health certificate from the Health Ministry endorsed by the Municipality to confirm they bear not diseases that could endanger wellbeing of the public.Meanwhile, the Capital Municipality announced its various accomplishments for November while Mubarak Al-Kabeer Branch of the Department of Cleanliness and Road Works managed to remove 3,657 kilos of rubble and collected KD 8,238 in revenue
