KUWAIT CITY, April 15: Director of the Family Counseling Department at the Ministry of Justice Iman Al-Saleh announced the formation of a specialized team to provide social and psychological counseling to the public during this period.
Al-Saleh told that this move came as a result of what the department felt about the need of some of the administration’s visitors in terms of providing advice and guidance regarding their family problems; as well as the negative effects of the global coronavirus pandemic and quarantine procedures.
He pointed out some specialists contacted a number of urgent cases to provide advice over the phone individually and directly. She added that the need has become urgent to activate this service more and more broadly with the continuation of this epidemic, and the imposition of more measures such as curfew, based on the directives of ministry officials and the leaders’ commitment to serve the State.
She affirmed coordination with the relevant authorities and specialists to provide advice to activate this service. She explained the team’s goals include contributing to preserving family stability and reforming the family, as well as providing psychological and social support to family members and society, in light of the exceptional health conditions.
This is in addition to raising awareness among family members on how to deal with the consequences of this epidemic, and responding to the public’s inquiries related to marriage, divorce and their documentation.” She added the team consists of 11 psychological and social specialists, in addition to an officer from the Legal Authentications Department; noting that “the team’s tasks include telephone follow up for emergency cases previously reviewed by the administration and to provide free family, marital, psychological and social counseling through telephone calls and messaging services, as well as to answer to the public’s inquiries regarding marriage, divorce and authentication.”
