KUWAIT CITY, Sept 30: Ministry of Finance has notified Ministry of Commerce and Industry that the tax sector is still in preparation to adopt the decisions taken for developing a tax system in Kuwait under the supervision of the World Bank, indicating that the tax system will be gradually implemented in Kuwait next year, reports Al-Anba daily quoting sources from Ministry of Finance.

They revealed that the decisions include preparation of a future taxation system in Kuwait, preparation of the organizational structure of the tax sector based on the best tax systems in the world and preparation of the procedural structure, its calculation and simplification.

The sources further revealed that the decisions also include improving the capabilities of those in charge of taxation in order to provide best services, preparing and implementing a strategic plan for media awareness, and building a tax culture and ensuring fairness and transparency. They explained that the role of the Ministry of Finance represented by the tax sector in terms of the tax payment procedures is registering companies as a preliminary step to receiving tax declarations and implementing annual tax payment system.

Meanwhile, Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, the State Minister of Planning and Development Hind Al-Subaih rejected a proposal to pay monthly allowance to unemployed Kuwaiti mothers who are forty years old and above, reports Al- Jarida daily. Replying to the proposal by MP Muhammad Tana who suggested that unemployed Kuwaiti mothers in their 40s should be granted monthly financial support, Al-Subaih affirmed that “a person at the age of forty should be at the peak of zeal to serve the nation”. She indicated the payment of monthly financial allowance to the category will encourage or increase dependency and discourage the sense of duty and ambition, which in the end, will reflect negatively on the society.

MP Muhammad Tana considered the minister’s refusal of the proposal to be ‘’another clear indication of her hatred toward citizens”. In a press statement, MP Tana stressed the objective of the proposed monthly allowance for unemployed Kuwaiti mothers who are forty years old and above was to protect and preserve the essence of family by supporting the enormous role mothers play in the upbringing of children and nation building. And, the Ministry of Electricity and Water (MEW) has suspended the processing of transactions for its Education counterpart due to the latter’s failure to pay electricity and water bills for more than a year, reports Al-Seyassah daily quoting sources.
