‘Kuwait has total rights to protect its citizens’

KUWAIT CITY, March 7: The Syrian Chargé d’Affaires in Kuwait, Mustafa Diop, said Damascus respects Kuwait’s decisions and has the full right to protect its people and the sovereignty of its land from the danger of corona virus, reports Al-Anba daily.

Diop pointed out, in an exclusive statement to Al Anba, that the embassy website has received many questions from Syrians residing in Kuwait, especially after the new procedures were announced by Kuwait on the need to produce a medical certificate by those on leave arriving in the country to prove they are not carriers of the virus.

He pointed out it is a special case for Syria since there is no Kuwaiti embassy at the moment in Damascus, and therefore the Syrian residents are facing a problem on the issue of health certificates and how these certificates can be attested in the current circumstance in the absence of a Kuwaiti mission.

He added, he wonders whether Kuwait will accept certificates issued by authorities in Syria or will Syrians be refused entry? However, he added, the Syrian embassy here will communicate with the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs in this regard.
