KUWAIT CITY, Oct 10: The security authorities continue to interrogate the Egyptian man, identifi ed only as Ibrahim Suleiman, believed to be 28 years old, for carrying out a ‘terrorist attack’ on a vehicle carrying fi ve American soldiers, reports Al-Rai daily.

It is alleged the man is a supporter of the DAESH organization and according to his friends he did not hide his feelings of sympathizing with the extremists because of his indignation for the Americans, who he believes, are the cause of problems experienced by the Arab world in general and Egypt in particular.

During interrogation he is said to have confessed to the charges fi led against him and said he was actively following up the DAESH via the Internet and morally supported murder and bombings carried out by this terrorist organization.

The material which has been seized from him such as screws, wires and powder and different kinds of tools were material he collected to make an explosives belt as per instructions given on the Internet, but he did not succeed and ended up making a crude bomb which failed to explode

A security source said the material which was seized from the man was sent to the Criminal Evidences Department and upon examination the experts said it was non-hazardous and did not contain any explosive substance.

The source said more than 20 suspects linked to the accused had been taken into custody for interrogation and 12 of them have been released while eight others are still being interrogated by the State Security Service. It has also been reported the case file from the Abdullah Al-Mubarak Police Station has now been handed over to the State Security police.

The source pointed out an unidentified imam of a mosque has also been whisked away for interrogation after police found in the suspect’s wallet instructions how to spend money — KD 1,300 towards the repair of the vehicle and KD 2,000 for his family. The source added the suspect was a regular visitor to a charity organization and some employees of this charity have been detained for interrogation. Police are also interrogating his coworkers.
