KUWAIT CITY, Jan 13: The number of reckless drivers on the roads of Kuwait in all governorates has been on a steady rise due to the absence of traffic officers on the roads to ensure the safety of road users. In this regard, several Kuwaiti men and women recently called the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior to notify that a group of individuals with sports cars were driving recklessly and performing stunts on the roads of Jaber Al-Ali and Thaher areas for several hours. Officers rushed to the location but the reckless drivers managed to escape before their arrival. According to security sources, the ministry’s Operations Room has been receiving reports about reckless drivers and stunt performers on a daily basis.Drugs seized: An Egyptian expatriate was arrested in Farwaniya area in possession of drugs. According to security sources, Farwaniya securitymen were patrolling when they suspected a vehicle and ordered the motorist to pull over. However, the latter ignored the orders and sped off, forcing securitymen to chase him. They eventually managed to force him to stop and checked his details to discover he is an Egyptian expatriate. They checked his vehicle and found seven pieces of hashish and Tremadol pills. When questioned, he confessed that he is involved in drug peddling. He was arrested and referred with the confiscated drugs to the Drugs Control General Department for necessary legal action.By Meshal Al-Sanousi Al-Seyassah Staff
