Steps taken against firm violating rights

KUWAIT CITY, March 19: The Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) announced it received a report from the Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh Police Station about a labor strike in one of the companies which has a contract with the Ministry of Education, reports Al-Jarida daily. The authority said, in a press statement, in coordination with security men from the Ministry of Interior the incident was recorded at the area police station and the employees involved in the strike were summoned and their testimonies were taken by personnel from PAM’s Labor Relations Department know the reason for the strike.

The authorities then summoned the employer and the legal representative of the company to take their statements regarding the complaints submitted by the workers. The Public Authority for Manpower stated that it has informed the Ministry of Education regarding the incident and its causes, and recommended that procedures in force should be initiated regarding the complaints submitted by the striking workers. PAM also requested the Ministry of Interior to take the applicable procedures in this regard. PAM stressed it has taken all the measures guaranteed by law to protect the rights of workers in the face of violating employers, and called on all employers in general and those associated with government contracts in particular to abide by the provisions of Labor Law No. 6 of 2010 as it represents the minimum rights of workers, according to the text of Article No. 6 of this law, in order to avoid taking the measures guaranteed by law in this regard.
