Step ahead for retirees insurance

KUWAIT CITY, April 4: The Central Agency for Public Tenders (CAPT) recently met with representatives of the Health Ministry, during which it agreed to award a tender for providing health insurance to retired citizens (Afiya) to Gulf Insurance Group, which submitted the lowest bid — KD354.56 million; and conformed to the conditions and technical specifications, reports Al-Anba daily quoting sources. Sources disclosed the contract term is two years and it will be signed in the coming days.

Sources affirmed the contract will take effect immediately after signing; covering about 135,000 retirees. Sources said the beneficiaries will not pay for the covered medical services as long as the amount is within the specified limit.

Sources added the ministry decided to extend the previous contract for a period of nine months until the awarding of the new contract — first extension was for three months at a cost of KD42.7 million while the second extension was for six months at a cost of KD82.6 million. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health has announced the Covid-19 vaccination schedule for the holy month of Ramadan, reports Al-Rai daily. According to the ministry, the vaccination against Coronavirus will continue from Sunday to Thursday during Ramadan as follows: – From 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at Kuwait Vaccination Center in Mishref; – From 8:00 pm to 12:00 midnight at Jaber Bridge Center, primary healthcare centers and Jleeb Youth Center.
