Dispute to be looked into by Council of Ministers

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 22: A letter was addressed by the Chairman of the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Muhammad Al-Saqr to  His Highness the Prime Minister, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled to cancel the decision which was taken by Public Authority of Manpower to charge KD 2,000 fee for those expats who are 60 yrs of age and above who do not hold graduation degree, he stated that this decision leads to displacement of skilled workers from Kuwait and will have negative effect on national economy. He called on the government to cancel this decision and avoid implementing it.

Sources stated that the disagreement of views is still ongoing between the   Chairman of the Manpower Board, Dr. Abdullah Al-Salman,  Minister of Trade and Industry,  and  Ahmed Al-Mousa, the Director General of Public Authority of Manpower, to change the residence renewal fee to KD 500 plus health insurance for those in private sector reports Al Rai. The failure to reach an agreement between  Dr. Abdullah Al-Salman’s proposal and Al-Mousa did not call for a meeting of council. There will be no change currently to the decision on residence renewal fee of KD 2,000 but however the minister will raise this issue with the Council of Ministers to take what he deems would be appropriate in this regard.
