Sri Lankan trucker drunk – Woman rescued

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 9: Police have arrested an unidentified Sri Lankan for driving a concrete mixer under the influence of alcohol, reports Al-Rai daily.

The arrest came after several motorists called the Operations Room of the Interior Ministry complaining about the reckless driver along the King Fahd bin Abdulaziz Motorway. At the time of arrest the Sri Lankan was high on alcohol.

Meanwhile, firemen from the Hawalli and Salmiya fire stations rescued a woman who was trapped in her apartment on the second floor of a 3-floor residential building in Jabriya, reports Al-Shahed daily. The building was evacuated as firemen exerted tremendous efforts to put out the fire. Investigations are underway to identify the cause of the fire.
