Sponsors ‘called’ as police round up 100 maids in raids; Security crackdown

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 8: The General Department for Investigation affiliated to the Residence Affairs Department during a security crackdown in Jaber Al-Ahmed has arrested 100 housemaids, says a press release issued by the department. The press release also states the sponsors of those arrested have been summoned for interrogation and necessary legal measures.

Security crackdown: Capital securitymen arrested two wanted individuals, 33 violators of residency law, 15 hawkers and 18 marginal laborers during security campaigns they launched in various locations within Capital Governorate, reports Al-Seyassah daily. According to security sources, the security campaigns were launched based on instructions from Capital Security Director Major General Ibrahim Al-Tarrah. Capital securitymen also seized 8 vehicles and discovered two vehicles that were reported as stolen in Sharq Police Station and Sulaibikhat Police Station respectively. The arrested individuals included an Egyptian expatriate who was wanted by law for his involvement in civil and criminal cases, and a Bangladeshi expatriate against whom an imprisonment sentence was issued.
