Sponsor films maid ‘suicide’ – Probe crime: lawyer

KUWAIT CITY, April 1: An Ethiopian housemaid attempted to commit suicide by jumping from the window of a flat on the seventh floor of a building in Sabah Al-Ahmad area.

Her sponsor did not take any step to rescue her housemaid and had even recorded the suicide attempt using her mobile phone with the intention of uploading on social media, reports Al- Seyassah daily.

According to security sources, the woman had jumped out of the window but fell on the roof of a prefabricated room instead of the ground, due to which she did not lose her life but fractured her hand and sustained eye and nose injuries.

When the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior received information about the incident, securitymen, paramedics and firefighters rushed to the location and rescued the victim from the roof of the prefabricated room.

Paramedics referred her to Mubarak Hospital where she was admitted in the Intensive Care Unit in serious condition.

Meanwhile, securitymen arrested the victim’s sponsor for investigations on the reasons why she did not help in rescuing her housemaid and instead chose to film the whole incident. Lawyer Fawziya Al-Sabah has requested the Public Prosecutor General to investigate this crime.
