Smuggling of narcotics through postal parcels busted

KUWAIT CITY, Jun 20: The Ministry of Interior stated that the criminal security department in coordination between Drug Enforcement Department and the Customs department arrested a person who tried to bring narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances through postal parcels to the country addressed to an imaginary name.

The Ministry’s General Administration for Relations and Security Media said in a press statement today, Saturday, that the necessary investigations were made and the name and location of the actual recipient of the suspicious parcels were reached, and accordingly the accused was arrested.

The statement added that the defendant confessed that it was related to him along with another defendant, who is a master in smuggling drugs by postal parcels.

The parcels contained 52 kilograms of white crystal powder for (tramadol), 22 kilograms of (chemical) and 4 kilos of (chemical) powder to give hallucinatory effect. He stated that the accused, along with the seized drugs was transferred to the competent authorities to take the necessary legal measures.
