Six sports cars seized, drivers held in Ahmadi crackdown – 1,860 citations issued, 26 cars impounded at airport

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 9: Ahmadi securitymen led by Ahmadi Security Director Brigadier Abdullah Safa launched an extensive campaign on reckless drivers in Ali Sabah Al-Salem area during which they seized six sports cars and arrested the drivers. According to security sources, Ahmadi securitymen launched the campaign after receiving information about a group of young men driving recklessly and performing stunts in dangerous manner in the area.

Securitymen closed off all entry and exit roads of the area and managed to arrest the reckless drivers. They were referred to the police station of the area and their vehicles were confiscated.

The sources affirmed that such campaigns against reckless drivers will continue in all residential areas and deserts in line with the directives issued by Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security Affairs Major General Ibrahim Al-Tarrah.

26 cars impounded: The Traffic Unit of Airport Security Department seized 26 vehicles, issued 1,860 citations and dealt with three traffic incidents in the month of October. According to a press statement issued by Ministry of Interior, the violations included use of private vehicles as taxis, violation of safety and security regulations, use of mobile phones while driving, not wearing seatbelts while driving and parking in banned locations and spots allocated for the disabled. The General Department of Public Relations and Media Security affirmed the keenness of Ministry of Interior to protect the security of road users and ensure compliance to traffic laws especially at Kuwait International Airport. It also emphasized the importance of following all traffic laws especially in vital utilities
