Shops, markets target

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 7:  The Mubarak Al-Kabeer Public Sanitation and Road Works Department at Kuwait Municipality carried out inspection campaigns targeting shops, markets and encroachments on public land in West Abu Futaira Industrial Area resulting in the issuance of 16 citations for various violations and 20 warnings.

In a press statement, the Municipality disclosed the violations uncovered during the three-hour inspection campaign were related to road works, leasing of basements, opening stores without license and public sanitation. The statement added 20 warnings were issued to cafés, restaurants and shops which utilize public land illegally. The owners of these establishments were given grace period of one week to rectify their violations.

Drugs with trio: A Jordanian expatriate was arrested in Khaitan area for consuming drugs and possessing two cigarettes stuffed with hashish and drug paraphernalia including a lamp used for consuming meth, reports Al-Seyassah daily. According to security sources, Farwaniya securitymen ordered a motorist to pull over based on suspicions and asked him for his documents. While checking his details, they noticed his disoriented state. They asked him to sit in the patrol vehicle but he resisted strongly, forcing securitymen to request for backup support. Securitymen eventually controlled him and checked him to find two cigarettes stuffed with hashish and drug paraphernalia.
