Shahad edges Sara for gold in ‘sisters battle’ – Egyptian shooter Jaber takes bronze

KUWAIT CITY, March 3: Kuwaiti sisters — Shahad and Sara Al-Hawwal — won gold and silver medals respectively in the Women Trap Category in the ongoing His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Fifth Annual International Shooting Grand Prix, which is being held at Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Shooting Complex.

The sisters achieved this feat in a stiff competition between them as they were tied at some point until one of them edged the other. They have been performing brilliantly since the beginning of the competition.

Meanwhile, Egyptian shooter, Suzane Jaber, won the bronze medal in the same category, beating her compatriot Maggie Shahamawi who got the fourth position.

Earlier, during the inauguration of the competition Wednesday, representative of HH the Amir at the opening ceremony, Minister of Information and State Minister for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem, affirmed the unwavering support of the Amir for such events. He asserted this greatly contributes to the consolidation of the Amir’s position globally.

With the slogan, “Amir for Humanity”, the minister pointed out this is the fifth time that Kuwait is organizing the championship — a clear manifestation of the Amir’s commitment to fully support the sports.

It is worth mentioning that about 350 competitors from 31 countries are participating in the championship.

Moreover, the competition continues on Friday during which medals will be distributed to the winners in the Men Trap Category and the finals will start at 1:00 pm.

Also, official trainings for men and women skeet competition will start at 9:00 am whereas the finals for this category will be on Saturday. Medals will be distributed to the winners in this category on the same day.
