KUWAIT CITY, Jan 29: A quadripartite committee of representatives from the Public Authority for Manpower, Kuwait Municipality, Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Ministry of Interior embarked on a campaign at Souq Juma in Rai area to organize the activities of the market. The campaign resulted in arrest of several expatriates violating labor law, including marginal workers, reports Al-Jarida daily.

Director of Inspection Directorate at the Public Authority for Manpower Muhammad Al-Ansari disclosed the sector has reached an agreement with the administration of Souq Al-Juma to open an office at the market to facilitate its daily monitoring and law enforcement procedures, while following up the level of commitment of the owners of cubicles to law no. 6/2010 of private sector.

Al-Ansari noted the campaign, which kicked-off last Thursday, resulted in arrest of several residency law violators — including individuals with expired residencies, those without identification documents, as well as Articles 18 and 20 visa holders that absconded from their employers. All suspects have since been referred to the Residency Investigation Department in the Ministry of Interior prior to their deportation.
