Securitymen arrest five for not paying debts worth KD 135,000 – Drunk driver knocks down police offi cer; woman’s bag stolen

KUWAIT CITY, May 14: A Bedoun man, who was wanted by law for non-payment of debt worth KD 32,000, was arrested in Saad Al-Abdullah area during a security campaign, reports Al-Anba daily. In addition, Jahra securitymen also arrested a Syrian expatriate who is wanted for payment of KD 12,000 debt, a Kuwaiti wanted for a debt worth KD 54,000 and a Pakistani expatriate wanted for a debt of KD 11,000. All arrested individuals were referred to the Department of Sentences Enforcement for necessary legal action.

Meanwhile, a Kuwaiti citizen who is wanted by law for a debt worth KD 26,000 was arrested in possession of a knife, a liquor bottle and a plastic gun, reports Al- Anba daily. According to security sources, Farwaniya securitymen headed by Commander of Farwaniya Police Station Major Khalid Al-Ajmi and Lieutenant Fahad Al-Mutairi had launched a security campaign on Naji Al-Watari Street. During the campaign, they discovered that the driver of one of the vehicles did not have his civil ID. They checked his details and discovered he is a Kuwaiti citizen who is wanted by law for non-payment of a debt worth KD 26,000. They checked his vehicle and found a knife, a liquor bottle and a plastic gun. They suspected that he could be involved in knifepoint robbery and impersonation of police. He was arrested and referred with the confiscated items to the concerned authorities for investigations.

Policeman injured: A Kuwaiti citizen was arrested in Andalous area for drunken driving and knocking down a policeman of rank ‘First Lieutenant’ with his vehicle earlier this week. According to security sources, Farwaniya securitymen were on routine patrol when they noticed a vehicle being driven recklessly and ordered the driver to pull over. They checked the civil ID of the driver to discover he is a Kuwaiti citizen. When they detected the odor of alcohol from him, they asked him to step out of the vehicle but he drove away, knocking down a policeman of rank ‘First Lieutenant’.

At the same time, the suspect’s brother and friend who were in another vehicle blocked the road to prevent the police from chasing the suspect. The suspect’s brother was arrested and referred for investigations while the injured offi cer was referred to Farwaniya Hospital for treatment. Investigations carried out by Farwaniya securitymen eventually led to the arrest of the suspect in Andalous area. They referred him to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action.

Woman’s bag snatched: An unknown individual snatched the handbag of a Syrian woman while she was shopping in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area, reports Al-Rai daily. The woman lodged a complaint at Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh Police Station, explaining that she was shopping in the area when a man dressed in casual attire snatched her handbag and ran away. She revealed that her handbag contained her civil ID card, credit cards, KD 370 cash and her smart phone. Investigations have been launched to find and arrest the suspect.

Fire erupts in cement mixer: Firemen extinguished a fi re that erupted in a cement mixture truck on the Fifth Ring Road, opposite Qurtuba. According to sources from the Fire Department, the Operations Unit received information on the fi re incident so it immediately dispatched a firefighting team that doused the fire in record time. No casualties or injuries were reported as the truck driver was able to get out unscathed.
