KUWAIT CITY, May 15, (KUNA): His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al- Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah said that security is a key challenge and if it is restored, this will lead to stability and consequently to an economic development. This came in an interview by His Highness the Premier with the National Assembly’s TV station on Monday.

His Highness the Premier added that parliament prioritizes health and housing issues, indicating that this was adopted by the executive authority. His Highness the Prime Minister stressed that His Highness the Amir’s vision on the “one person, one vote” system aims to provide an equal opportunity to all the country’s segments in running for Parliament. His Highness the Prime Minister noted that the system helped many tribes and categories to be elected as MPs at the parliament.

Kuwait Parliament consists of 50 members who represent five constituencies, 10 each. His Highness the Prime Minister said that dealing with economic hardships should not be at the expense of citizens and is a core responsibility of the nation. His Highness the Prime Minister added that wasted electricity and water is a serious issue and that “sacrifices should be made to put an end to the squander.”

Moreover, he cited other issues that have been shrouded in corruption, including the allowances to national delegations sent abroad and government budgets. Speaking on development in Kuwait, His Highness the Prime Minister said there has been tangible progress as a slew of infrastructure projects have popped up as of late.
