JEDDAH, April 2 (KUNA) -- Saudi Interior Ministry said it was imposing a 24-hour curfew in Makkah and Madina as of today Thursday until a further notice, part of the Kingdom's efforts to curb spread of coronavirus.

The ministry said in a statement, cited by the official SPA news agency, the curfew was in compliance with instructions of the health authorities for the sake of wellbeing of inhabitants of Makkah and Madina.

Those working in vital departments in public and private sectors are excluded from the curfew, as well as people who want to buy food or seek medical care. (
