KUWAIT CITY, Oct 4, (KUNA): The Russian team Saturday evening won the World Fencing Championship, epee, for juniors, after beating Austria in the final. The tournament was held at the Kuwait Fencing Association hall. In a strong match, Russian fencers, among the world’s top ones, scored 45 touches, while their Austrian counterparts had 40.
Egypt, with a strong performance, came third after beating Spain with 45 touches for 35. The Kuwaiti team came seventh. Up to 79 fencers from 13 countries took part in the two-day tourney, offering high performance, head of the referee committee Rashid Al-Shamali told KUNA.
