KUWAIT CITY, March 6: Member of the Municipal Council Engineer Ali Al- Musa has said that it’s imperative to focus on economic development in the next period and that “rushing to implement the projects listed in the development plan as per the state’s structural policy may require withdrawing from the state treasury”, reports Al-Rai daily.

He pointed out that some projects on sport, health, education and industry and entertainment cities have not been carried out, even though they are within the structural policy.

He stressed the need to implement government projects and specify the mechanism to encourage private sector participation. He noted Kuwait Municipality has created an environment to encourage private sector involvement in national development.

He added some Municipal Council members have difficulty implementing the state’s development projects as they lack leadership and decision-making skills in that concern. He is said to have submitted a letter to head of the council Mehahel Al-Khalid to withdraw all suspended transactions and development projects from the executive for relevant study. Meanwhile, many MPs are seeking for the issuance of a decision on granting monthly allowance to a Kuwaiti woman married to a Bedoun in case the couple is jobless, reports Al-Shahid daily quoting sources.

Sources pointed out this category of Kuwaiti women had been deprived of their social rights such as passing on their nationality to their children, housing grant and other privileges given to Kuwaiti men. Sources said the proposed allowance is one way of alleviating the suffering of these women, especially if their husbands are jobless and do not own a real estate property or business.
