Royals details Prince William visit to Kuwait

LONDON, Nov 21: Kensington Palace revealed further details of The Duke of Cambridge’s upcoming visit to Oman and Kuwait on Tuesday. William’s visit will “pay tribute to the historic ties Britain shares with Kuwait and Oman, and will highlight strong links and cooperation in many areas, including education, the environment, and defence,” according to the briefing, reports royalcentral.co.uk.

The Duke will visit both countries for the first time from Dec 1-4 at the request of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Geographically, the visit will span “the modern capitals of Kuwait City and Muscat, to the vast Kuwaiti deserts and stunning wadis in the Omani mountains” and will showcase “both countries’ unique cultures, their beautiful landscapes, and diverse communities.”

William’s visit will see him learning about educational opportunities for young people, including ways they learn leadership skills and other life skills; as well as learning how Oman and Kuwait are working to conserve the natural environment and “protect their important ecosystems from the new environmental challenges.”

His Royal Highness will also learn more about security operations within both countries and how the UK links with both countries in defence. He will meet with military personnel who work in the security sector to learn more about their efforts.

The briefing notes that William will join “Kuwaiti and UK troops in undertaking a Desert Warrior Exercise before travelling to Musandam in Oman to learn more about the Royal Navy of Oman’s responsibilities monitoring maritime traffic passing through the Strait of Hormuz.”
